Ortigia Private Tour
At the appointed time we'll meet at the Umbertino Bridge, linking the center of Syracuse to Ortigia, founded in 734 BC.
During the walk, we'll enter the fortified area to discover Syracuse's origins. Notable sites include the Temple of Apollo, the oldest Doric sanctuary in Sicily, and Piazza Archimede, honoring the mathematician born in Syracuse, along with the fountain of Diana.
As we explore Ortigia, we will reach Piazza Minerva and see the Cathedral of Syracuse, constructed on the remains of the ancient Temple of Athens.
We will pause to admire its façade, displaying baroque and rococo styles, then continue to notable nearby buildings, including the Palazzo del Vermexio, the Town Hall, the Palazzo Beneventano, and the Santa Lucia alla Badia Church, which contains a work by Caravaggio.
The tour proceeds to the promenade, known as the Alfeo, featuring the Arethusa fountain and the silhouette of the Castello Maniace.
This tour concludes 2 hours after the start.
