On this guided tour of the Neapolis Archaeological Park, we will visit significant monuments in Sicily and follow the traces left by the Greeks and Romans in Syracuse.

Tour of Neapolis

We will meet at the entrance of the Neapolis Archaeological Park and begin our guided tour of one of the primary monuments of ancient Greek and Roman Syracuse. Our journey will take us through the ruins of the most important Greek colony in the West. We will unveil the history of the place where Archimedes was born, along with notable figures like Plato and Cicero.

During our tour, we will explore the Latomia of Paradise, a stone quarry featuring the famous Ear of Dionysus, which was used as a prison for enemies. You will experience its excellent acoustics.

We will also approach the massive Greek Theater, regarded as one of the largest theaters in the world. At the top is the nymphaeum fountain, providing a view of the port of Syracuse.

Finally, we will visit the Roman Amphitheater, constructed after the town’s conquest for gladiator fights.

The tour of the Neapolis Archaeological Park will conclude back at the starting point after an hour and a half of walking.
