Tour of Neapolis
We will meet at the entrance of the Neapolis Archaeological Park to begin our tour. The site is one of the most significant landmarks of ancient Greek and Roman Syracuse.
Entering the archaeological area, we will walk through the ruins of a prominent Greek colony, learning about the historical significance of the place where Archimedes was born and which was visited by Plato and Cicero.
During the guided tour, we will explore the Latomia of Paradise, a stone quarry that houses the Ear of Dionysus, known for its use as a prison for his enemies. Visitors can enjoy the views and test the acoustics of the site.
Next, we will approach the grand Greek Theater, recognized as one of the largest theaters in the world. From the top, we will have a view of the port of Syracuse, with the nymphaeum fountain enhancing the scenery.
Lastly, we will visit the Roman Amphitheater, constructed after the conquest for gladiator fights.
The tour will conclude back at the starting point after an hour and a half of exploration.
