You can choose between two options for a private day trip from Sofia. Select Plovdiv for a journey to the Ancient Roman Empire, or choose Rila and Boyana for churches and monasteries.

Plovdiv Day Trip (8 hours)

At 9 am, we'll meet at St. Alexandar Nevski Cathedral and head southeast to Plovdiv. During the 2-hour journey, you'll learn about Europe's oldest city.

Our first stop will be the Traciana fort ruins, which are over thirty centuries old, built in the 8th century BC. The private tour will continue to Plovdiv's old town, where we'll admire the picturesque Renaissance houses and churches, finishing at the Dzhumaya mosque, one of the oldest Ottoman buildings in the Balkans.

Next, we'll visit the Ancient Roman Empire ruins, including the stadium, forum, and theatre. The day will conclude with a visit to Bachkovo monastery, the second largest in Bulgaria, before returning to Sofia by 5 pm.

Rila and Boyana Day Trip (7 hours)

We'll meet at 9 am at St. Alexandar Nevski Cathedral and travel in a private vehicle to Rila, two hours from Sofia. The guide will share the historical significance of the sites during the journey.

The first stop will be the Rila monastery, founded in the 10th century by Saint Ivan of Rila. After exploring the monastery, we'll enjoy lunch at a restaurant by the Rila river (not included).

Next, we'll head to Boyana to visit Boyana church, renowned for its artistic value and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We'll return to Sofia by 4 pm.
