Rose Valley Tour + Buzludzha Monument
At the appointed time, we'll meet behind Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and then proceed to the Rose Valley.
Rose cultivation in Bulgaria dates back to the 16th century, and the country became a global leader in rose oil production three centuries later. We will visit the Damascena Ethnographic Complex to learn about this region's suitability for rose cultivation.
Next, we will stop in Kazanlak, known for its annual Rose Festival during the harvest months of May and June. After a leisurely stroll, we will break for lunch.
Post-lunch, we will visit the Buzludzha Monument, an abandoned Soviet structure with a UFO-like design, located in the Central Balkan Mountains and known for its social media popularity. It has been featured in music videos by various artists.
Before heading back, we will visit the Memorial Church in Shipka, commemorating soldiers who died in the war between Russia and Turkey. We will return to Sofia and drop you off at the starting point after a total of 10.5 hours.
