Óbidos Guided Tour

We will meet at the Óbidos Tourism Office at the specified time to commence our tour of interesting locations in Óbidos.

Our first stop is the Óbidos Town Gate, the main entrance. We will proceed to Óbidos Castle, focusing on its medieval military architecture. As we explore, we will see flowered houses, various churches, and community squares.

We will visit the Mercado Biológico Bookstore, offering books and fresh local produce.

Next, we will head to Santa Maria Church, Óbidos' main church, which has history dating back to the Vigothic period and has undergone renovations since being converted back into a Christian church in 1148. Its current structure originates from the 16th century.

Our walk will continue through the Jewish Quarter and to São Tiago Church Bookstore, known as 'Livraria de Santiago', which features books surrounding the altar. We will then reach a viewpoint to admire views of the village and countryside.

To conclude the tour, we will enjoy a tasting of Ginjinha, a traditional Portuguese liquor, at a local bar, served in a chocolate cup. We will learn about its origins and cultural significance during this tasting. The tour lasts 2 hours and concludes after the tasting.
