Cantabrian Brown Bear Sighting

Description

We'll meet up at 4:30 pm at the Interpretation Centre in the Natural Park of Somiedo. You'll need to come in your own car, and when we're all together, we'll each drive as we follow the guide's car into the mountains of this beautiful part of Asturias, the natural habitat of the Cantabrian brown bear.

Throughout the afternoon, we'll explore Somiedo in search of this animal. We'll visit the best locations for spotting them based on the weather that day.

With binoculars, you'll be able to spot magnificent specimens of Cantabrian brown bears. In this part of Asturias, it's common to see adult bears with their cubs: their population has tripled in recent decades.

During the route, we may also spot wild boars, deer, or chamois. Finally, we'll return to the original starting point in Pola de Somiedo, concluding our day among the Brown Bears.

Bear watching

Somiedo Natural Park is one of the best places in the Principality of Asturias to see Cantabrian brown bears. However, the animals are unpredictable. The sighting of a greater or lesser number of specimens will depend on various factors, such as the weather or the breeding seasons of the different species.
