Snowshoeing Tour in the Valle de Lago

The tour begins at the Valle de Lago car park at the scheduled time. Here, a mountain guide will provide instructions for safe walking in icy conditions. After the briefing, we will equip ourselves with snowshoes and begin our ascent up the valley, encountering winter scenery and traditional "teitos", Asturian mountain huts. The ascent will take approximately two hours, leading us to 1558 metres (5111 feet) to the Lake of the Valley, Asturias' largest natural lake, predominantly covered in snow and ice.

We will pause for a rest to appreciate the landscape and have a snack. Then, we will proceed to the 'Cobrana Teito' for panoramic views of the lake. Depending on weather conditions, we will either return via the same route or take the forest path to enjoy the snowy beech forests and biodiversity of the Somiedo council. The tour concludes after approximately five hours back at the Valle de Lago car park.

Equipment hire

Participants can choose an option that includes rental of poles and snowshoes, or opt for a tour without rental if they have their own equipment.
