Pantálica Nature Reserve Hike

On this hiking route around the Pantálica Nature Reserve, we'll discover this World Heritage Site in southern Sicily.

Description

At the scheduled time, we'll meet at the Pantálica Lato Sortino car park, and from there, we'll begin the hike around the Pantálica Nature Reserve.

The hike starts in the nature reserve, which is located between the Calcinara and Anapo Rivers. The reserve features deep gorges and archaeological sites from the 13th century BC. It is recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

During the hike, we'll explore the old excavated tombs in the rock and visit the impressive Grotta dei Pistrelli. Additionally, we will swim in the fresh waters of the Calcinara River.

After swimming, we'll walk upstream through the water and take a break on the shore where participants can enjoy a small snack that they have brought.

After 4 hours, we will conclude the hike by returning to the starting point.
