Follow in the footsteps of the pirates on this tour of Port Royal. We'll visit the fortress and discover the history of this ancient port city.
Description
At the indicated time we'll pick you up from your hotel in Kingston to begin a tour of one of the most famous sights in the Jamaican capital.
After about 30 minutes on the minibus, we’ll reach Port Royal, originally founded by the Spanish, which was once the largest city in the Caribbean until it was destroyed by an earthquake in 1692. During its peak under British rule, it hosted a Royal Navy base. We'll learn about its history.
It is known for being a stronghold for pirates. Its strategic location between the maritime routes linking Spain and Panama made it attractive for looting. You’ll discover more stories about notorious pirates as we walk through the remnants of the city.
We'll visit the fort of Port Royal, dating back to the 17th century, and view its numerous cannons. Additionally, we will explore the small museum at Fort Charles to learn more about the area's history.
For those interested in seafood, we'll take you to Gloria's restaurant for a meal (not included), where your table will be reserved.
After refuelling, we'll return you to your hotel after a four-hour tour.
