Day Trip to a Maroon Town

At 10 am, pickup from your hotel in Runaway Bay will commence, leading to an approximate two-hour journey to Charles Town.

This town hosts a Maroon community. Upon arrival, a visit to the Charles Town Maroon Museum will provide insights into their historical struggle for freedom.

The Maroons are descendants of individuals who were originally brought from Africa as slaves in the 18th century and now consider themselves independent communities of ex-runaway slaves.

Following the historical visit, experience traditional music and dance. Join in and participate.

Next, we will head to the Buff Bay River for a refreshing swim and subsequently proceed to a local restaurant for a taste of local cuisine (lunch not included).

Post-lunch, we will return to Runaway Bay, concluding the tour back at your hotel at around 3 pm.

If preferred, this day trip from Ocho Ríos is also available.
