Day Trip to a Maroon Town

At 10 am, we will pick you up from your hotel in Runaway Bay and travel for approximately two hours until reaching Charles Town.

This town is home to one of the country's Maroon communities. Upon arrival, we will visit the Charles Town Maroon Museum to learn about the history of this community and their struggle for freedom.

The Maroons are descendants of people originally brought from Africa as slaves in the 18th century. Today, they identify as independent communities of ex-runaway slaves.

After learning about this period of Jamaican history, you can enjoy traditional music and dances. Join in the festivities!

We will then head to the Buff Bay River for a refreshing dip. Afterwards, you may enjoy local cuisine at a nearby restaurant (lunch not included).

Following lunch, we will return to Runaway Bay, completing the tour at approximately 3 pm.

If you prefer, you can also take this day trip from Ocho Ríos.
