Day Trip to a Maroon Town
At 10 am, pickup will be from your hotel in Runaway Bay for a travel duration of approximately two hours until reaching Charles Town.
This town is home to a Maroon community. Upon arrival, visit the Charles Town Maroon Museum to learn about the history and struggle for freedom of this community.
The Maroons are descended from individuals originally brought from Africa as slaves in the 18th century and now identify as independent communities of ex-runaway slaves.
After exploring this historical period, you can enjoy traditional music and dances and participate in the festivities.
Next, head to the Buff Bay River for a refreshing dip, followed by a visit to a local restaurant for local cuisine (lunch not included).
After lunch, return to Runaway Bay with the tour concluding back at your hotel around 3 pm.
