Day Trip to a Maroon Town
At 10 am, pickup will be from your hotel in Runaway Bay for a travel period of approximately two hours to Charles Town.
Upon arrival, we'll visit the Charles Town Maroon Museum to learn about the history and struggles of this community for freedom.
The Maroons are descendants of people originally brought from Africa as slaves in the 18th century and now consider themselves independent communities of ex-runaway slaves.
After the museum visit, you are invited to enjoy the traditional music and dances. Join in and have fun!
Next, we'll head to the Buff Bay River for a refreshing dip, followed by a visit to a local restaurant where you may enjoy local cuisine (lunch not included).
Post lunch, we will return to Runaway Bay, concluding the tour back at your hotel at approximately 3 pm.
If you prefer, you can also take this day trip from Ocho Ríos.
