Description

In downtown St. Augustine, the Medieval Torture Museum houses a large collection of torture, execution, and restraint devices. The exhibition features more than 100 artifacts from the Middle Ages. Visitors will learn about various torture instruments, including the wheel and the bull of Phalaris, using an included audio guide in English. Realistic wax sculptures depict victims and executioners to provide context about executions and torture during medieval times.

Ghost Hunting Experience

In this activity, guided by a museum staff member, you will follow clues to find ghosts in the torture chambers, particularly the ghost of executioner Thomas.

Tiny Art Gallery

Access an exhibition of 30 ultra-tiny paintings and various miniature sculptures, only visible through a microscope!

Opening hours

The Medieval Torture Museum is open daily from 10 am to 10 pm. Hours are flexible and may change.

Children under 18

The museum isn't recommended for children; guests under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Children under 10 are admitted free of charge with one adult per child.
