Travel in time to discover St Augustine, one of the oldest European and African-American settlements in the United States, in a golf cart!
Description
The tour begins in Plaza de la Constitución, where you'll board a golf cart for a historical journey through St. Augustine. For an hour and 15 minutes, you will explore the old-style streets and important sites within this historic settlement. Notable sites include the Plaza de la Constitución, the Puerto de Matanzas, and the Puente de los Leónes. The most prominent is the Castillo de San Marcos, now a national park, originally built to defend Florida and the Atlantic trade route.
To the north, a mile from the Castillo, is the Misión Nombre de Dios, established in 1565. A further mile leads to the archaeological park of the Fountain of Youth, associated with explorer Ponce de Leon’s first landing in the Americas. St. Augustine is rich with legends and myths regarding its history.
During the ride, you will see hotels such as the Ponce de León Hotel, Alcazar Hotel, and Casa Mónica, showcasing the city's architectural diversity from colonial Spanish to British styles. The tour concludes at the Flagler Memorial Presbyterian church, featuring a blend of architectural styles, before returning to the Plaza de la Constitución.
