Travel in time to discover St Augustine, one of the oldest European and African-American settlements in the United States, in a golf cart!
Description
The tour begins in Plaza de la Constitución, where you'll hop on board a golf cart for a historical journey through St. Augustine. For an hour and 15 minutes, you'll pass through the Olde-style streets discovering important sites such as the Plaza de la Constitución, Puerto de Matanzas, and Puente de los Leónes. A notable site is the Castillo de San Marcos, now a national park, originally built to defend Florida and the Atlantic trade route.
North of the Castillo is the Misión Nombre de Dios, built in 1565, and further north is the archaeological park of the Fountain of Youth, where explorer Ponce de Leon is believed to have made landfall. St. Augustine offers gripping legends and myths about its past.
During the tour, you'll see notable hotels such as the Ponce de León Hotel, Alcazar Hotel, and Casa Mónica showcasing stunning facades. The architecture ranges from colonial Spanish to British styles. The tour culminates at the Flagler Memorial Presbyterian church, featuring a mix of architectural styles before returning to the Plaza de la Constitución.
