Travel in time to discover St Augustine, one of the oldest European and African-American settlements in the United States, in a golf cart!
Description
The tour begins in Plaza de la Constitución, where you'll hop on board a golf cart ready to take you on a historical journey through the city of St. Augustine. For an hour and 15 minutes, you'll explore the Olde-style streets of St. Augustine, discovering important sites such as the Plaza de la Constitución, the Puerto de Matanzas, and the Puente de los Leónes. The most significant site is the Castillo de San Marcos, now a national park originally built to defend Florida and the Atlantic trade route.
Further north in the city, one mile from the Castillo, is the Misión Nombre de Dios, established in 1565. Continuing another mile, you will find the archaeological park of the Fountain of Youth, linked to explorer Ponce de Leon's landing in the Americas. St. Augustine holds many legends and myths about its past.
Throughout the ride, you will see notable hotels such as the Ponce de León Hotel, Alcazar Hotel, and Casa Mónica, showcasing various architectural styles from colonial Spanish to British. The tour culminates at the Flagler Memorial Presbyterian church, featuring a mix of Italian, Spanish, Arabesque, and Baroque style architecture, before returning to the Plaza de la Constitución.
