Travel in time to discover St Augustine, one of the oldest European and African-American settlements in the United States, in a golf cart!
Description
The tour begins in the Plaza de la Constitución, where you'll hop on board a golf cart ready to take you on a historical journey through the city of St. Augustine. For an hour and 15 minutes, you'll be transported through the Olde-style streets, discovering important sites within this settlement, including the Plaza de la Constitución, the Puerto de Matanzas, and the Puente de los Leónes. The most noteworthy site is the Castillo de San Marcos, a national park built to defend Florida and the Atlantic trade route.
Further north, a mile from the Castillo, is the Misión Nombre de Dios, built in 1565. Continuing one more mile is the archaeological park of the Fountain of Youth, believed to be the landing site of explorer Ponce de Leon. St. Augustine is rich with legends and myths about its past.
During the ride, you'll see notable hotels such as the Ponce de León Hotel, Alcazar Hotel, and Casa Mónica, showcasing the architectural diversity from colonial Spanish to British styles. The tour culminates at the Flagler Memorial Presbyterian church, blending Italian, Spanish, Arabesque, and Baroque architecture before returning to the Plaza de la Constitución.
