On this trip from Roseau, we'll learn about the history and nature of this island country by visiting Fort Shirley and the Dominica Botanical Gardens.
Description
Located between the French islands of Guadalupe and Martinique, Dominica is a Caribbean island country part of the lesser Antilles. We'll begin by discovering the main two points of interest in its capital, Roseau, where at the scheduled time we'll pick you up at the cruise terminal.
The first stop will be the Dominica Botanical Garden, created during the time the island was part of the British Empire. Here, we will see numerous native species of tropical plants, including the Bois Kwaib, the national flower of Dominica.
We will observe various native plants, flowers, and trees, along with many native birds, notably the Sisserou parrot, the country's national bird which also appears on the country's flag.
After the Botanical Garden, we will proceed to the northern coast of the island to visit Fort Shirley, an old fort built in the crater of a volcano by the English during conflicts with the French in the Lesser Antilles.
After learning about Fort Shirley, we'll stop at a beautiful beach nearby, where you will have 45 minutes of free time to swim and eat. The tour concludes back at the meeting point in Roseau, approximately 5.5 hours after the pickup time.
