If you want to learn about Dominica's history and indigenous groups, our Kalinago Culture Shore Excursion is perfect for you! You'll step off your cruise ship and immerse yourself in a cultural experience.

Kalinago Culture Shore Excursion

At your chosen time, we'll meet at your selected meeting point in Roseau. Once we have all arrived, we'll board the minibus and head to the northeast of Dominica, where the Kalinago Territory is located.

After a 1 hour drive, we'll arrive at the Kalinago Territory, home to approximately 3,000 indigenous Kalinago people. Throughout the day, we'll engage with some Kalinago people and hear about their culture, history, and way of life.

The first stop will be a bakery where we'll learn how the Kalinago bake traditional bread. Next, we'll visit a pottery workshop to learn about historic pottery techniques, with the option to purchase pottery. We'll also see a basket-making workshop and learn about this unique art form.

Additionally, we'll enjoy a live performance of the Kalinago people's traditional dances, showcasing their cultural expressions.

Following this cultural experience, we'll return to Roseau, arriving back at the starting points 7 hours after the excursion began.
