Hólmavík Whale Watching
At your chosen time, we'll meet on Hafnarbraut Street at the Port of Hólmavík. We'll board our boat and set sail through the North Atlantic in search of the whales that inhabit Iceland's northwest coast.
We'll sail through the Westfjords region, where we will start to spot whales, particularly the humpback whale. These whales are known for their acrobatic behaviors and can weigh up to 50 tonnes. Their songs can be heard up to 100 miles (160 kilometers) away. Keep an eye out for Minke whales, dolphins, sperm whales, killer whales, and even pilot whales.
After a 1 to 3-hour boat trip, we'll conclude the activity upon our return to the starting point.
Whale Watching
The Westfjords region is strategic for whale watching. However, animals are unpredictable, and the number of whales we observe depends on various factors including sea currents, winds, and weather conditions. The duration of the tour may vary based on these factors, but we always conduct the activity with respect for the animals’ natural habitat.
