Hólmavík Whale Watching
At your chosen time, we'll meet on Hafnarbraut Street at the Port of Hólmavík. After boarding our boat, we will set sail through the North Atlantic to explore Iceland's northwest coast.
While navigating the Westfjords region, we aim to spot whales, primarily humpback whales, known for their playful nature and acrobatics. These large animals can weigh up to 50 tonnes, and their songs can be heard up to 100 miles (160 kilometers) away. Additional species to look for include Minke whales, dolphins, sperm whales, killer whales, and pilot whales during our trip.
After a boat trip lasting between 1 and 3 hours, we will conclude the activity upon returning to our starting point.
Whale Watching
The Westfjords region is ideal for whale watching; however, wildlife is unpredictable. The number of whales seen will depend on factors like sea currents, winds, and weather conditions. Arctic weather can change rapidly, influencing animal behavior.
Be aware that the tour duration may vary based on weather conditions and the time required to locate the whales. This activity is conducted with respect for the animals, ensuring their natural environment is not disturbed.
