Discover one of Alsace's impressive festive attractions with this Traditional Christmas Market Walking Tour. Enjoy the magical atmosphere around Strasbourg as you wander through the charming streets.
Tour Description
We'll meet at the indicated time at Place Gutenberg. From this central point, we'll head to Place Kléber, where one of the most famous Christmas markets in Strasbourg is located.
Here, we'll see the giant Christmas tree surrounded by various stalls. As we walk around the beautifully decorated stalls and admire the lights, we will explain the origins and traditions of the Christmas markets in the Alsace region.
Place Kléber's Christkindelsmärik is the oldest Christmas market in Europe, dating back to 1570. From late November to early January, Strasbourg is considered the Christmas capital. During the tour, we will identify popular products, and you will have the opportunity to sample vin chaud (mulled wine) and kugelhopf cake.
The tour will continue by visiting the Notre-Dame Cathedral market, showcasing sought-after Christmas toys and decorations that reflect a fusion of French and German cultures.
After 2 immersive hours, we will conclude the tour at the cathedral market. You can then visit the stalls you like the most on your own.
