Discover one of Alsace's festive attractions with the Traditional Christmas Market Walking Tour in Strasbourg.
Tour Description
We'll meet at the indicated time at Place Gutenberg. From there, we will head to Place Kléber, home to one of Strasbourg's most famous Christmas markets.
At Place Kléber, we'll see the giant Christmas tree surrounded by various stalls. As we explore the decorated stalls and admire the lights, we will discuss the origins and traditions of the Christmas markets in the Alsace region. This Christkindelsmärik is the oldest Christmas market in Europe, established in 1570. From late November to early January, Strasbourg is regarded as the Christmas capital. During the tour, we will highlight popular products, including samples of vin chaud (mulled wine) and kugelhopf cake.
The tour will also include a visit to the Notre-Dame Cathedral market, showcasing sought-after Christmas toys and decorations. Due to the region's position between France and Germany, many products reflect a blend of both cultures.
After 2 hours, the tour will conclude at the cathedral market, allowing you to visit the stalls of your choice independently.
