Experience one of the most remarkable holiday attractions in Alsace with this Walking Tour of the Traditional Christmas Market. Soak in the enchanting ambiance of Strasbourg as you stroll through its picturesque streets.
Tour Overview
Our adventure begins at the agreed time at Place Gutenberg. From this central location, we'll make our way to Place Kléber, home to one of Strasbourg's premier Christmas markets.
Here, you will encounter the impressive giant Christmas tree, surrounded by a variety of festive stalls. While we discover the beautifully adorned kiosks and enjoy the twinkling lights, you'll learn about the roots and customs of the Christmas markets in the Alsace region.
Notably, Place Kléber hosts the Christkindelsmärik, recognized as the oldest Christmas market in Europe, with its origins tracing back to 1570. From late November through early January, Strasbourg is celebrated as the Christmas capital. Throughout the tour, we'll explore the most beloved products, and you'll have the opportunity to savor the delightful vin chaud (mulled wine) and the iconic kugelhopf cake.
Next, we'll proceed to the Notre-Dame Cathedral market, where an array of charming Christmas toys and decorations awaits. Given its location at the crossroads of France and Germany, many items offer a unique blend of both cultures.
After two captivating hours, our tour will wrap up at the cathedral market. You will then have the freedom to explore your favorite stalls at your leisure.
