Shakespeare's Birthplace
The William Shakespeare house, located on Henley Street, serves as a sanctuary for those interested in the legendary writer. It offers insights into his childhood, teenage years, and early marriage to Anne Hathaway. Visitors will find delightful gardens and a 16th-century house retaining its original wooden beams, reflecting its Elizabethan style.
During the tour, guests will walk through the rooms where Shakespeare wrote and discover the places he lived, ate, and played. It has been a pilgrimage site for many writers, including Charles Dickens and Thomas Hardy.
“Famous Beyond Words” Exhibition
Since 2016, in honor of Shakespeare's 400th birth anniversary, the house features the "Famous Beyond Words" exhibition, showcasing Shakespeare's life and works. Visitors can view first editions and a collection of art associated with him, along with a timeline and family tree.
