Madre & Bella Islands Hop-On Hop-Off Boat

Madre Island is the largest of the Borromean Islands. You can reach it by boarding the boat at the pier in Stresa's Piazza Guglielmo Marconi.

This island is known for its botanical gardens that cover 8 hectares. You can walk through this English-style garden and see various plants including camellias, magnolias, cypresses, and palm trees, along with species from Africa. You may also observe peacocks, parrots, and pheasants while exploring.

During your visit, you will also view the exterior of the Borromeo Palace, a mansion dating back to the 17th century.

After finishing your exploration of Madre Island, you can board the boat to Bella Island, recognized by many as the most beautiful of the Borromean Islands. You can enjoy your time discovering the island's charm.

The boat's final stop will be Stresa, after which it will restart its route. You can opt to revisit Madre Island if desired.

Boat Schedule

The hop-on hop-off boat operates from March to November, sailing daily from 9:30 am to 6 pm, with a frequency of every 30 minutes.

How Does It Work?

You will have access to the boat for an entire day, with departures from Stresa to Madre and Bella Islands, allowing you to hop on and off as many times as you wish during its operating hours.
