Cordillera de los Frailes Hiking Tour
At 8:30 am, we will pick you up at your hotel and take you to the town of Chataquila, located 30 kilometers from the center of Sucre. Once there, we will begin a two-hour hike through the Cordillera de los Frailes, a group of mountains that divides the departments of Chuquisaca and Potosi.
During the route, we will make several stops to admire the wonders hidden in this mountain range. The first will be to see the cave paintings of Inka Mach'ay, painted in red and white around 2,500 years ago. We will then visit the cave of Pumamachay, which houses additional cave paintings in black.
As we proceed through the Cordillera de los Frailes, we will enjoy views of the Chataquila mountain range. Afterward, we will stop for a picnic lunch before continuing to one of the local villages, where the bus will be waiting for us.
We will also stop at the Tazón viewpoint for panoramic views of the Maragua Crater and its striking colors. Finally, we will return you to your hotel in Sucre by 2:30 pm.
