Hiking Expedition in the Cordillera de los Frailes

Your day begins at 8:30 am when we will pick you up from your hotel and transport you to the quaint town of Chataquila, situated 30 kilometers from Sucre's center. Here, we will embark on a two-hour trek across the stunning Cordillera de los Frailes, which acts as a natural divider between the Chuquisaca and Potosi departments.

Throughout our hike, we will pause at various points of interest to appreciate the hidden treasures of this mountain range. Our first stop will reveal the cave paintings at Inka Mach'ay, created approximately 2,500 years ago in shades of red and white. While some depictions showcase human and geometrical forms, others remain enigmatic. Following this, we'll explore the Pumamachay cave, which features a different style of cave art presented in black.

As we journey through the Cordillera de los Frailes, the breathtaking vistas of the Chataquila mountain range will accompany us. Once we’ve worked up an appetite, a picnic lunch awaits us before we head towards one of the local villages, where our bus will be ready to take us onward.

During our stop at the Tazón viewpoint, we will soak in the captivating panoramic views of the Maragua Crater and its vibrant hues. We will conclude our expedition by returning you to your hotel in Sucre at approximately 2:30 pm.
