Potosí Day Trip
Miguel de Cervantes first spoke about this city of Bolivia in one of his novels and coined the term "vale un potosí" regarding the wealth from this place.
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Sucre and head to Potosí to discover its rich history and heritage. During our trip, we'll observe the architecture of Sucre, such as the bridge of Sucre over the Pilcomayo River and its medieval fortress towers.
Upon arrival in Potosí, we'll meet our guide and explore this historical town, once the nucleus of the silver trade in the 16th and 17th centuries. The silver extracted from Cerro Rico made it one of the most prosperous cities globally for many years.
The preserved buildings and monuments include the Cathedral of Potosí, a Baroque-style building with gold and silver relics, the Santa Teresa Museum, and the Casa de la Moneda (Mint), founded in the 18th century by Francisco de Toledo, Viceroy of Peru, highlighting Potosí's economic significance.
During the visit, we'll uncover the legends of this silver capital as we stroll through its historic streets. Afterwards, we will have free time for lunch before reconvening to return to Sucre, dropping you off at your hotel after a 10-hour excursion.
