Potosí Day Trip

Discover the origins of the expression "valer un potosí" with this excursion to Potosí, a significant Bolivian imperial town. Miguel de Cervantes first mentioned this city and its wealth in one of his novels.

Your trip begins with a hotel pickup in Sucre, followed by a journey to Potosí, where you will see the city's architecture, including the bridge over the Pilcomayo River. Upon arrival, a guide will assist you in exploring Potosí, renowned as a center of the silver trade in the 16th and 17th centuries, largely due to resources extracted from Cerro Rico.

Key sites include the Cathedral of Potosí, a Baroque structure housing gold and silver relics, the Santa Teresa Museum, and the Casa de la Moneda (Mint), established in the 18th century by Viceroy Francisco de Toledo, highlighting Potosí's historical economic significance.

The visit includes stories about the city's silver heritage. After a lunch break, the group will regroup for the return trip to Sucre, concluding the tour with a hotel drop-off after approximately 10 hours.
