Set off from Sucre and visit a charming Quechua village on our Tarabuco Day Trip. You'll spend the day immersing yourself in local culture and learning about ancestral customs.
Tarabuco Day Trip
When making your booking, you'll choose from two options: Half-Day Tour or Full-Day Tour. Both include pick up and drop off at your hotel, transport by minibus, and an English-speaking guide.
Half-Day Tour
At your chosen time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Sucre and drive to the Quechua village of Tarabuco. During the drive, we'll view the arid landscapes of the Bolivian plains. Tarabuco is renowned for its traditional market, attended by families from the Yampara Indigenous community, who have Quechua origins. The market operates every Sunday, where we will observe the colourful traditional clothing of the Yampara and the historic practice of bartering. The visit includes strolling through the market to browse food, textiles, and handicrafts while learning about the Yampara civilization. The tour lasts 4 hours before returning to Sucre.
Full-Day Tour
For those wishing to spend more time in Tarabuco, the full-day tour is available. After picking you up from your hotel in Sucre, we will take a 1-hour 30-minute drive to Tarabuco. Upon arrival at the Tarabuco Market, you will witness how Yampara families come every Sunday to buy, sell, and exchange local products and handicrafts. After browsing, we will stop at a local restaurant for lunch, which includes a starter, main course, and dessert. The 6-hour excursion concludes with our return to Sucre.
