Sutatausa Hiking Tour
When booking, you can select between two hiking routes. Both commence at the main park of Sutatausa at 8 am and conclude at 4 pm.
Medium Difficulty Hiking Route
This 9 km (5.5 miles) hike is suitable for those seeking an intermediate level. We will first walk through the center of Sutatausa, visiting the church of San Juan Bautista, established in the 17th century, and discuss its historical significance as a meeting point between the indigenous Muisca people and the Spanish colonisers.
Next, we will venture into the surrounding mountains via the Camino Real. After two hours of hiking through lush vegetation, we will reach the Sutatausa cliffs, where we will learn about their formation millions of years ago while enjoying panoramic views of the Ubaté valley at 2750 meters (9022 feet). A two-hour lunch break is provided before we begin our return.
High-Difficulty Hiking Route
This alternative entails a 7-kilometer (4.3 miles) hike with greater difficulty as we ascend to 3200 meters (10,4987 feet). After exploring the center of Sutatausa, we will take the trail up Curuta mountain, observing local wildlife and the cliffs along the way.
