Sutatausa Hiking Tour

Bookings offer two hiking route options, both starting at the main park of Sutatausa at 8 am and finishing at 4 pm:

Medium Difficulty Hiking Route

This 9 km (5.5 miles) hike is suitable for those seeking an intermediate level of difficulty. The route begins with a visit to the church of San Juan Bautista, established in the 17th century, highlighting its role as a meeting point for the Muisca people and Spanish colonisers. Following the town center, hikers will transition to the surrounding mountains via the Camino Real. After two hours of trekking through rich vegetation, participants will reach the cliffs of Sutatausa, where the formation of these rock structures will be discussed, accompanied by views of the Ubaté valley at 2750 meters (9022 feet). A two-hour lunch break will follow before returning to the starting point.

High-Difficulty Hiking Route

This option includes a 7 km (4.3 miles) hike, with a higher difficulty level as it ascends to 3,200 meters (10,4987 feet). After exploring the center of Sutatausa, the path leads up Curuta mountain. Hikers will have opportunities to observe local wildlife and view the cliffs.
