Medium Difficulty Hiking Route
This option features a 9 km (5.5 miles) hike, starting in the centre of Sutatausa, visiting the church of San Juan Bautista, dating back to the 17th century. Discussion will cover its significance as a meeting point between the indigenous Muisca people and Spanish colonisers.
We will then head into the mountains via the Camino Real. After two hours of hiking through lush vegetation, we will reach the cliffs of Sutatausa to explain the formation of these rock structures millions of years ago and enjoy views of the Ubaté valley at 2750 metres (9022 feet). A two-hour break for lunch will follow before returning to the starting point.
