Sutatausa Hiking Tour
When booking, you can select from two hiking routes. Both begin in the main park of Sutatausa at 8 am and finish at 4 pm:
Medium Difficulty Hiking Route
This 9 km (5.5 miles) hike offers an intermediate level of difficulty. It starts with a visit to the church of San Juan Bautista, originating from the 17th century, which served as a meeting point for the indigenous Muisca people and the Spanish colonisers.
We will then leave the town's center to hike in the nearby mountains along the Camino Real path. After two hours through lush vegetation, we will reach the cliffs of Sutatausa, explaining the formation of these rock structures millions of years ago while enjoying panoramic views of the Ubaté valley at 2750 metres (9022 feet). A two-hour break will be provided for lunch before we return to the starting point.
High-Difficulty Hiking Route
This option consists of a 7 km (4.3 miles) hike at a higher difficulty level, reaching 3,200 metres (10,4987 feet). After exploring Sutatausa's center, we'll ascend the Curuta mountain, observing local wildlife and the cliffs.
