Sutatausa Hiking Tour

Medium Difficulty Hiking Route

This 9 km (5.5 miles) hike is ideal for those seeking an intermediate level of difficulty. The route begins in the center of Sutatausa, including a visit to the church of San Juan Bautista, which has origins in the 17th century and served as a meeting point for the indigenous Muisca people and Spanish colonisers.

After the town visit, the hike continues into the surrounding mountains via the Camino Real. After two hours of hiking through lush vegetation, participants will reach the cliffs of Sutatausa to learn about their formation and enjoy panoramic views of the Ubaté valley at an altitude of 2750 metres (9022 feet). A two-hour lunch break is included before returning to the starting point.

High-Difficulty Hiking Route

This option features a 7-kilometre (4.3 miles) route with increased difficulty, reaching an altitude of 3,200 metres (10,4987 feet). After exploring the center of Sutatausa, the hike ascends Curuta mountain, where participants can observe local wildlife and witness the cliffs.
