Vatnajökull Glacier Hike

Enjoy hiking on top of Vatnajökull glacier, the largest glacier in Iceland. This location is famed for its stunning landscapes featured in various films and series.

Upon booking, you can choose between a 3-hour or a 5-hour route:

3 hour route

We'll meet in Skaftafell, where our guide will provide the necessary equipment for a safe glacier hike. After equipping ourselves with helmets, harnesses, ice axes, and crampons, we will board a bus to the Vatnajökull glacier area.

Upon arrival, you will experience the glacier's beauty, located in Europe’s largest national park. The white and mountainous terrain has featured in movies such as James Bond, Tomb Raider, Batman, and Game of Thrones.

We will trek for approximately 60 to 90 minutes, discovering formations such as cracks, vertical wells, and ice tunnels (winter only), providing an unforgettable experience in Icelandic nature.

We'll return to the starting point after the hike.

5 hour route

The itinerary mirrors the 3-hour route, but with extended trekking time. This experience is tailored for those seeking a more adventurous hike.

Important Information

This is a medium difficulty hike, lasting about one hour on uneven ground. It is not recommended for individuals with heart conditions.In winter, wear warm clothing and suitable footwear for snow and ice. In summer, a rain jacket is recommended. We will provide necessary technical equipment (helmet, crampons, and torch).
