Moquegua Day Trip

At 8 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Tacna and begin a 2-hour drive to the city of Moquegua.

Upon arrival, we will embark on a walking tour of this southeastern Peruvian city, exploring its pre-Inca roots and colonial mansions that reflect Hispanic architecture and decoration.

Highlights of the tour include the Plaza de Armas, where we will see a fountain from Paris, and the Contisuyo Museum, which features a collection of artifacts from the Wari and Tiwanaku cultures, including pottery, gold, and silver items.

We'll visit the Church of Santo Domingo, the principal temple after the colonial-era cathedral was destroyed by an earthquake, and the resting place of Saint Fortunata, whose remains were sent from the Vatican.

Next, we will proceed to the Cristo Blanco Viewpoint for panoramic views of Moquegua. Afterwards, you will have time for lunch at a local restaurant to experience Moquegua's gastronomy.

The day will conclude with a visit to a wine and pisco cellar and a macerados cellar to sample some fruit and syrup liqueur before returning to Tacna, with drop-off at your hotel by 5 pm.
