During our excursion to Moquegua, we will depart from Tacna and journey into southeastern Peru to delve into the rich pre-Inca and colonial heritage of this noteworthy city.

Moquegua Day Tour

Your adventure begins at 8 am with a pickup from your hotel in Tacna. From there, we will embark on a scenic 2-hour drive to the city of Moquegua.

Upon our arrival, we will commence a walking exploration of this significant southeastern Peruvian location. You will learn about its history, which predates the Inca civilization, while admiring colonial-era mansions that showcase Hispanic design and embellishments.

Our journey will include a visit to the Plaza de Armas, where you can observe a stunning fountain originally imported from Paris. Additionally, we will tour the Contisuyo Museum, which features a valuable collection of artifacts from the Wari and Tiwanaku cultures, including pottery, gold, and silver items.

We will then proceed to the esteemed Church of Santo Domingo, which serves as the principal temple or Matiz Church following the destruction of the original colonial cathedral by an earthquake. Here, the remains of Saint Fortunata, transported from the Vatican, are interred.

Next, we will make our way to the Cristo Blanco Viewpoint, offering breathtaking panoramas of Moquegua. Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, allowing you to savor some of Moquegua's diverse culinary offerings.

Once we regroup, we will visit a wine and pisco cellar, along with a macerados cellar where you can sample this delightful fruit and syrup liqueur.

The day will conclude as we make our way back to Tacna, returning you to your hotel by approximately 5 pm.
