Puerto Grau, Ite Wetlands & Tacahuay Hills Day Trip
Pick up at 8 am from your hotel in Tacna and a 40-minute drive to the first destination. Stops include the Boca de Rio seaside resort, known for its rock and sand pools, and the Burros Gorge, where a 30-minute walk will allow for exploration and photographs.
At Puerto Grau, the main coastal port, we will visit the Sundial, used by Indigenous communities to measure time. We will learn about its function and how it marks the hours through sunlight.
Next, we will visit the Ite Wetlands, home to over 140 species of birds, including flamingos, Andean ducks, macaws, and seagulls. A stop in Ite will allow for lunch at your leisure.
Our final destination will be the Tacahuay Hills, a protected area characterized by misty scenery, where we will take a walk. You will be dropped back at your hotel by 4 pm.
