Chuncho Collpa Tour 2/3 Day Tour

On this 2 or 3-day tour to the Chuncho collpa, explore the natural beauty of Puerto Maldonado.

Itinerary

Day 1: Puerto Maldonado – Tambopata National Reserve

We will collect you from your hotel in Puerto Maldonado and travel by 4x4 to the Tambopata River. After 2 hours, we will switch to a boat to reach our accommodation for the night.

After settling in, we will have lunch. In the evening, a hike through the tropical rainforest in the Tambopata National Reserve will allow us to see wildlife in their natural habitat.

We will return for dinner and rest until the following day.

Day 2: Tambopata National Reserve – Puerto Maldonado

At about 4:30 am, we will leave the hotel and head to the Chuncho collpa. This will involve a 1.5-hour boat ride where we may spot animals like capibaras, tapirs, and jaguars.

At the collpa, we will observe various species that consume clay. We will also learn about three species of the most colorful birds in the Americas.

Post-visit, we will return for lunch, and in the evening, take a walk through the botanical gardens to learn about fruit, timber, and medicine species in the reserve.

We will then return to Puerto Maldonado, ending the 2 or 3-day tour.

3-day tour

For the 3-day option, after visiting the Chuncho collpa and gardens, we will embark on a kayaking tour on the Tambopata River on the second day to observe more wildlife.

That evening, relax at the lodge, with an option for a nighttime hike.

Accommodation

This tour includes 1 or 2 nights of accommodation at the Monte Amazónico Lodge in Tambopata.

Pickup

Pick-up from hotels in Puerto Maldonado is included. For locations outside the city, there is an additional cost of 50 to 70 USD, payable on the day of the activity.
