Embark on an unforgettable 2 or 3-day adventure to the Chuncho collpa, immersing yourself in the breathtaking beauty of Peruvian nature that Puerto Maldonado has to offer.

Itinerary

Day 1: Puerto Maldonado – Tambopata National Reserve

Your journey begins with a prompt collection from your accommodation in Puerto Maldonado. After a 2-hour ride in a 4x4 vehicle to the banks of the Tambopata River, we will transfer to a boat that will take us to our lodging for the night.

Upon arrival, you can unwind and partake in a delightful lunch. Later in the afternoon, we will explore the tropical rainforest within the Tambopata National Reserve, giving you the chance to observe wildlife in their natural environment.

After our hike, we'll return to our lodging for dinner and rest before the exciting activities of the following day.

Day 2: Tambopata National Reserve – Puerto Maldonado

We will rise early, around 4:30 am, to set off from the lodge to the Chuncho collpa. The boat journey will last approximately 1.5 hours, during which you can spot renowned wildlife such as capybaras, tapirs, and even jaguars.

At the collpa, observe the multitude of species visiting the clay wall to indulge in its nutrients. Delve into the unique behaviors of these animals, and discover three vibrant bird species renowned in the Americas—it’s bound to be memorable.

Upon finishing the visit to the Chuncho collpa, we'll head back to the lodge for lunch. In the evening, we will embark on another excursion, this time exploring the botanical gardens of the reserve, where you’ll learn about the various species of fruits, timber, and medicinal plants found in Tambopata.

As the day concludes, we will depart the reserve and head back to Puerto Maldonado, marking the end of the 2 or 3-day journey.

3-day Tour

For an enriched experience, opting for the 3-day tour is recommended, allowing you to spend an extra night in the Tambopata National Reserve. On the second day, following our visit to the Chuncho collpa and the botanical gardens, you will have the opportunity to participate in a kayaking tour on the Tambopata River. This activity facilitates sightings of the reserve's larger wildlife.

Later that evening, unwind at the lodge, and for those interested, a nighttime hike can be arranged!

Accommodation

This tour provides 1 or 2 nights of lodging at the Monte Amazónico Lodge located in Tambopata.

Pickup

The activity includes pick-up from hotels in Puerto Maldonado. If your location is outside the city limits, an additional fee ranging from 50 to 70 USD will apply, which will be collected on the day of the excursion.
