Inkaterra Ecological Reserve 3 or 4-Day Tour

Description

Day 1

We'll pick you up at your hotel in Puerto Maldonado, the airport, or the bus station. Then, a 45-minute boat ride will take us to the lodge beside the Madre de Dios River and close to the Tambopata National Reserve.

Upon arrival, you can settle into the cabins before exploring the virgin tropical rainforest on the reserve's trails. The area is home to giant tree roots, over 500 species of birds, 300 species of ants, and more than 100 species of mammals.

After lunch at the lodge, we'll take a boat ride on the Madre de Dios River to see nocturnal wildlife, followed by dinner at the hotel.

Day 2

Breakfast at the hotel precedes a visit to the Inkaterra Canopy Walkway for a view of the rainforest from above. After lunch in the reserve, we’ll take a boat trip around a river island, observing the vegetation and local bird species.

Dinner will be at the reserve, followed by a night walk to discover forest species.

Day 3

After breakfast, we’ll return to Puerto Maldonado.

4-day tour

For an extended experience, the 4-day tour includes further exploration on the third day, walking through swampy forests (aguajales) and visiting an organic vegetable garden.

We’ll explore the 30-hectare Palmetum and enjoy lunch in the reserve, with another night walk at sunset. On the fourth day, breakfast will precede your return to Puerto Maldonado.

This tour includes 2 or 3 nights of full-board accommodation in double or single cabins at Amazon Field Station by Inkaterra.
