Inkaterra Ecological Reserve 3 or 4-Day Tour

Description

Day 1

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Puerto Maldonado, or from the airport or bus station. We will travel 45 minutes by boat to the lodge on the banks of the Madre de Dios River, near the Tambopata National Reserve. After settling into the cabins, we will walk the trails of the virgin tropical rainforest, home to over 500 species of birds, 300 species of ants, and more than 100 species of mammals. Following lunch, we will take a boat ride on the Madre de Dios River to observe nocturnal wildlife, concluding the day with dinner at the lodge.

Day 2

After breakfast, we will visit the Inkaterra Canopy Walkway for a view of the rainforest from observation platforms. After lunch, we'll take a boat ride around a river island to appreciate transitory forest vegetation and birds, such as the Amazonian umbrellabird. In the evening, we will have a night walk to discover species living in the forest.

Day 3

After breakfast, we'll return to Puerto Maldonado.

4-day tour

For the 4-day tour, on the third day, we will explore the biodiversity around swampy forests called aguajales and visit an organic vegetable garden. We will also explore the 30-hectare Palmetum of Amazonian palm trees, followed by a night walk. On the 4th day, we will have breakfast before returning to Puerto Maldonado.

Accommodation

This tour includes 2 or 3 nights of full-board accommodation in double or single cabins at Amazon Field Station by Inkaterra.
