Loero Amazonian Community Multi-Day Visit

2-day visit

Day 1

Upon arrival at the airport in Puerto Maldonado or your hotel, you will be transferred to the community of Loero. You will assist your hosts with daily tasks such as cultivating, fertilizing, and harvesting. The first day focuses on planting local crops like papaya, corn, banana, or cassava, followed by enjoying traditional food.

Day 2

After breakfast, you will spend the morning picking fruit. Depending on your departure schedule, you may also engage in fishing in the Amazon River. After activities, you'll be taken to the airport, bus station, or your hotel in Puerto Maldonado.

4-day visit

Days 1-2

The itinerary is similar to the 2-day tour. After lunch on the second day, you can go fishing or swim in the Amazon River.

Day 3

This day involves a visit to other farming families and the Tambopata Corridor, including a rescue center for Amazonian fauna and viewpoints. You will also learn about medicinal plants and have the option to participate in an ayahuasca ceremony.

Day 4

Your stay concludes with a farewell to the local family, followed by transfer to the airport or your hotel.

Accommodation

The tour includes 1 or 3 nights of full-board accommodation in a local family’s home. Prices are per person in a double room.

Important

Arrival time: Be in Puerto Maldonado by 7 am, ideally via bus from Cusco, or stay overnight. The transfer to Loero community takes about 2 hours.

Departure time: The return transfer is scheduled 4 hours before your flight or 3 hours for bus departures. For the 2-day tour, an early flight (after 4 pm) is recommended. For bus travel in the afternoon, activities can be completed. On the 4-day tour, no scheduled activities occur on the fourth day.
