Parrot Clay Lick Exploration
Your journey begins with an early morning pickup from your accommodation in Puerto Maldonado at 3 am, followed by a scenic two-hour drive to the Tambopata River. Upon arrival, you'll enter the enchanting Tambopata National Reserve.
The early hour will prove rewarding as you navigate along the river and watch the sunrise illuminate the landscape of Puerto Maldonado. The stunning hues of dawn casting over the Amazon Jungle will create a breathtaking backdrop!
As you reach the El Chuncho clay lick, referred to as a colpa, you'll take a moment to wait for the colorful macaws to arrive for their morning ritual on the clay wall. Spend an hour in awe as various species of parrots and macaws engage in "licking the clay." Their vivid plumage is sure to leave you astounded!
Following the visit to the parrot clay lick, we'll progress to a lodge within the reserve, traversing a trail where, with a bit of luck, we might encounter the region's beloved residents: the sloths! We may also spot other wildlife such as capybaras, tapirs, and deer.
Upon reaching the hacienda, a delightful lunch will await you. After enjoying your meal, you'll have the opportunity for a brief stroll around the property before we return to Puerto Maldonado. The day concludes with a drop-off at your hotel around 3 pm.
