Peruvian Jungle Multi-Day Tour

If you want to learn all about the sheer beauty of the Peruvian jungle, this 2 or 3-day tour of the Isla de Monos and Lake Sandoval is for you. You'll spend a few days in the Tambopata National Reserve.

Day 1: Puerto Maldonado – Isla de Monos

You will be collected from your Puerto Maldonado hotel and transported to the banks of the Tambopata River. After a two-hour journey, you will switch from a 4x4 to a boat to reach your hotel for the first night. After lunch, you will visit Isla Rolling, known as Isla de los Monos, a rescue center for endangered primates. You will learn about the species present, receive care information, and have the opportunity to feed them. Following this, a search for white caymans in the Madre de Dios River will take place, with a chance to spot capibaras. You will then return to the lodge for dinner and rest.

Day 2: Lake Sandoval – Puerto Maldonado

You will start with breakfast at the hotel, followed by a trek through the jungle to Lake Sandoval. You will navigate the lake and observe flora and fauna, including cormorants, herons, pumas, monkeys, sloths, and giant nutria. After the boat ride, you will return to the hotel for lunch and then head back to Puerto Maldonado to conclude the trip late in the evening.

3-day tour

The 3-day tour option includes an additional nighttime hike to learn about nocturnal wildlife. On the third day, a Tambopata Canopy Walkway experience will be conducted at dawn, offering views of the jungle from 30 metres high, as well as avian species such as toucans and macaws. Breakfast will follow at the hotel, and you will return to Puerto Maldonado for a lunch to conclude the trip.

This tour includes 1 or 2 nights of accommodation at the Monte Amazónico-Tambopata Lodge.

Pickup

This activity includes pick-up from hotels in Puerto Maldonado. If you are staying outside the city, the additional pick-up cost ranges from 50 to 70 USD, depending on your location, payable on the activity day.
