Tambopata National Reserve 5 Day Tour

On this 5-day tour of the Tambopata National Reserve, you'll explore the Peruvian jungle's flora and fauna and engage in adventure activities like kayaking and ziplining.

What to Expect

Day 1

You will be picked up from Puerto Maldonado airport, the bus station, or your hotel and transported to the river port for a boat ride to the Tambopata National Reserve. After reaching your accommodation, enjoy lunch before visiting Isla Rolling, a primate rescue center where you can interact with monkeys. A night hike will follow to search for white caymans and possibly capibara.

Day 2

After breakfast, a 3-kilometer hike leads to Lake Sandoval, known for its piranhas. Enjoy a boat tour and look for various wildlife. After lunch, a nighttime hike reveals nocturnal animals.

Day 3

Begin early with a tour on the Canopy Walk-Way, viewing birds from 30 meters above. After breakfast, experience the zipline circuit, then a kayak tour on the Madre de Dios river at sunset, including fishing.

Day 4

Visit the parrot clay lick in the morning, then return for breakfast. In the afternoon, meet an indigenous family to learn about their culture. Conclude the day with dinner and relaxation.

Day 5

After breakfast, depart around 8 am back to Puerto Maldonado for airport or hotel drop-off.

Accommodation and food

This tour includes 3 or 4 nights of accommodation at the Monte Amazonico Lodge, a fully equipped hostel.

Pickup

Pickup is available from Puerto Maldonado Airport, bus station, or hotel. For bus arrivals, pickup is at 7 am; for hotel guests, it's at 8:40 am. For flights, recommended arrival is on LA2258 at 8:10 am, returning on LA 2265 at 5:10 pm.
