Tambopata National Reserve 5 Day Tour

On this 5-day tour of the Tambopata National Reserve, you will explore the flora and fauna of the Peruvian jungle, engaging in adventure activities like kayaking and ziplining.

What to Expect

Day 1

Pickup from Puerto Maldonado airport, bus station, or hotel. Transfer to the river port for a boat ride to the Tambopata National Reserve. After arriving at the accommodation, we will visit the Isla Rolling (Monkey Island), a rescue centre for endangered primates. Evening hike to spot white caymans and possibly capibaras. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 2

Breakfast at the hotel followed by a 3-kilometer hike to Lake Sandoval, known for its piranhas. Enjoy a boat tour observing wildlife like jacanas, sloths, and possibly giant otters. Afternoon relaxation and nighttime hike to explore nocturnal wildlife. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 3

Early morning visit to the Canopy Walk-Way at 30 metres (98 feet) above ground to view bird species. After breakfast, experience the zipline circuit above the jungle. Evening kayak tour on the Madre de Dios river at sunset. Dinner and relaxation at the hotel.

Day 4

Boat trip to the parrot clay lick for bird watching, followed by breakfast at the lodge. Afternoon visit to an indigenous family to learn about their culture. Return to the lodge for dinner.

Day 5

After breakfast, begin the return trip to Puerto Maldonado around 8 am for drop-off at the airport, bus station, or hotel.

Accommodation and food

Includes 3 or 4 nights of accommodation at the Monte Amazonico Lodge, a fully equipped hostel.

Pickup

Pickup is from the Puerto Maldonado Airport, bus station, or your hotel. Bus arrival at 7 am or hotel pickup at 8:40 am. Recommended flight from Lima is the LA2258 arriving at 8:10 am for first-day lunch. Return flight LA 2265 at 5:10 pm is suggested.

Pick up from outside Puerto Maldonado incurs an additional cost of 50 to 70 USD, payable on the day of activity.
