Tambopata National Reserve & Rainforest 4 Day Tour

Immerse yourself in lush tropical nature on this four-day expedition around Tambopata, in the Puerto Maldonado area.

Puerto Maldonado: 4 Days

Day 1: Puerto Maldonado – Río Madre de Diós

On the first day, we will pick you up from Puerto Maldonado Airport, bus station, or your hotel and travel to the river port. We will board a traditional boat to sail down the Madre de Dios River to our lodge, located 30 kilometres from the city. After settling into our cabañas, we will have lunch and head into the rainforest for the afternoon, where we will collect seeds and learn about the medicinal uses of jungle plants. We will conclude the day with a cruise along the river and dinner at the lodge.

Day 2: Tambopata

After breakfast, we will head to the Tambopata Reserve for a day of trekking in the Amazon. We will learn to distinguish plants and wildlife along the trail, and visit Lago Sandova for its biodiversity. After lunch and a rest, we will walk in the evening to observe nocturnal wildlife before returning for dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 3: Monkey Island

We will have breakfast and then embark on a morning of adventure in the jungle, including tree climbing and a zip line over 200 metres long. After lunch at the lodge, we will visit Monkey Island to observe primates such as marmosets and huapos, before returning for dinner and lodging.

Day 4: Cachuela - Lago Anaconda - Puerto Maldonado

After an early breakfast, we will visit the parrots of La Cachuela and continue bird watching towards Anaconda Lake, where you can try fishing. We will return to your hotel in Puerto Maldonado around midday.

Food & accommodation

This four-day excursion includes three nights' full-board accommodation in single or double cabañas at a lodge on the outskirts of Puerto Maldonado, with all meals served at the accommodation.

Level of difficulty

The treks are easy and suitable for all ages, covering distances of 3 to 6 kilometres (1.8 to 3.7 miles).
