Puerto Maldonado: 4 Days

Day 1: Puerto Maldonado – Río Madre de Díos

On the first day, pick-up will be arranged from Puerto Maldonado Airport, bus station, or your hotel to the river port. We will board a traditional boat to the lodge, located 30 kilometres from the city. After settling into our cabañas, we will have lunch and explore the rainforest in the afternoon, collecting seeds and learning about medicinal jungle plants. A cruise along the river to witness a sunset follows, before returning for dinner and rest.

Day 2: Tambopata

After breakfast, we head to the Tambopata Reserve for a day of trekking in the Amazon. Along the trail, we will identify various plants and wildlife, including cedar, aguaje, butterflies, and toucans. We will reach Lago Sandova, noted for its biodiversity, before returning for lunch and a short rest. In the evening, we will explore the nocturnal wildlife before dinner at the lodge.

Day 3: Monkey Island

Breakfast will be served at the lodge, followed by an adventure through the Amazon involving climbing, hanging bridges, and a zip line over 200 metres long. After lunch and some rest, we will visit Monkey Island to observe primates like marmosets, maquisapas, and huapos. The day concludes with dinner and accommodation at the lodge.

Day 4: Cachuela - lago Anaconda - Puerto Maldonado

After breakfast, we will meet the parrots of La Cachuela, and continue bird watching on our way to Anaconda Lake, where fishing opportunities will be available. We will return to your hotel in Puerto Maldonado by around 12 midday.

Food & Accommodation

This excursion includes three nights' full-board accommodation in single or double cabañas at a lodge on the outskirts of Puerto Maldonado. All meals will be provided at the lodge.

Level of Difficulty

The treks are easy and suitable for all ages, covering distances between 3 and 6 kilometres (1.8 to 3.7 miles).
