Puerto Maldonado: 4 Days

Day 1: Puerto Maldonado – Río Madre de Díos

On the first day, pick-up is arranged from Puerto Maldonado Airport, bus station or your hotel to the river port, where we'll board a traditional boat and sail down the Madre de Dios River to our lodge, 30 kilometers from the city. After settling into our cabañas, we will have lunch and head into the rainforest for the afternoon to collect seeds and learn about the medicinal uses of jungle plants. We will cap off the day with a sunset cruise before returning for dinner.

Day 2: Tambopata

After breakfast at the lodge, we'll visit the Tambopata Reserve for a day of trekking in the Amazon. We will learn to distinguish plants and wildlife along the trail, including various species, before reaching Lago Sandova to appreciate its biodiversity. Following lunch, we will take a walk through the nocturnal forest before dinner at the lodge.

Day 3: Monkey Island

Following breakfast, you can engage in adventurous activities such as climbing trees, walking hanging bridges, and zipping along a line over 200 meters long. Afterward, we return to the lodge for lunch and rest before visiting Monkey Island to observe primates like marmosets and maquisapas. The day concludes with dinner and overnight accommodation at the lodge.

Day 4: Cachuela - lago Anaconda - Puerto Maldonado

On the final day, we have an early breakfast and visit La Cachuela to meet the blue-headed macaws, continuing with bird watching on the way to Anaconda Lake. Fishing opportunities will be available before returning to your hotel in Puerto Maldonado around midday.

Food & accommodation

This four-day excursion includes three nights' full-board accommodation in single or double cabañas at a lodge on the outskirts of Puerto Maldonado, with all meals served at the accommodation.

Level of difficulty

The treks are easy and suitable for all ages, covering distances of 3 to 6 kilometers (1.8 to 3.7 miles).
