Tambopata Natural Reserve: 3 or 4-Day Wildlife Watching Tour

Description

Day 1

We'll pick you up at the airport in Puerto Maldonado, and head to the river port to board a large boat for a journey along the Tambopata and Madre de Dios rivers. A picnic on board will be enjoyed while admiring the landscape. The trip concludes at a jungle lodge with a welcome drink. After a rest, a local naturalist will provide a talk on the endangered species of the Tambopata National Reserve. Dinner will be served, followed by an evening canoe ride to see alligators. The day ends with a return to the hotel for rest.

Day 2

After breakfast, we'll begin a 1 kilometre (0.6 mile) walk to Tres Chimbadas Lake, home of the Tambopata Giant Otters. A short canoe trip across the lake follows, leading to a picnic and a visit to the highest wildlife observation tower in the Amazon, with views from its 46-metre (150 feet) lookout point. We'll return to the hotel for dinner and rest.

Day 3

We will have breakfast at the hotel, then take you to Puerto Maldonado airport based on your flight departure time.

4 Day Tour with Parrot Watching

On the first and third days, the same activities as the 3-day tour will be conducted. On the second day, we will visit the Tambopata parrot colpa after breakfast. This is a red clay wall attracting numerous exotic birds. Following a picnic, views from the observation tower will be enjoyed before returning to the hotel for dinner and a night walk through the jungle.

4 Day Tour with Otter & Parrot Watching

The first day follows the 3-day tour itinerary. On the second day, we'll focus on watching the giant otters on Lake Cocococha and visiting the observation tower. The third day is dedicated to the Tambopata parrot colpa. The final day features breakfast at the hotel and a transfer to the airport.

Accommodation

This tour includes 2 or 3 nights accommodation at the Explorer's Inn Tambopata Ecolodge, with full board covering all meals.
