Description

Day 1

Pick up at Puerto Maldonado airport and transportation to the river port to board a boat along the Tambopata and Madre de Dios rivers. Enjoy a picnic on board and arrive at a jungle lodge for a welcome drink. Attend a talk by a local naturalist on endangered species in the Tambopata National Reserve. Dinner at the hotel followed by an evening canoe ride to see alligators. Return to the hotel for rest.

Day 2

Early breakfast and a 1 kilometre (0.6 mile) walk to Tres Chimbadas Lake, home to the Tambopata Giant Otters. After observing the otters, take a canoe trip across the lake, enjoy a picnic, and visit the highest wildlife observation tower at 46 metres (150 feet) for extraordinary views. Return to the hotel for dinner and rest.

Day 3

Breakfast at the hotel, then transfer to Puerto Maldonado airport based on your flight schedule.

4 Day Tour with Parrot Watching

This itinerary includes the same activities as the 3-day tour on the first and third days. On the second day, visit the Tambopata parrot colpa to see exotic birds. After a picnic, enjoy views from the observation tower and return to the hotel for dinner. End the day with a night walk in the jungle.

4 Day Tour with Otter & Parrot Watching

This itinerary follows the same route as the 3-day tour on the first day. The second day focuses on observing giant otters on Lake Cocococha and views from the Amazon observation tower. The third day includes a visit to the Tambopata parrot colpa. On the fourth day, have breakfast and travel to Puerto Maldonado, arriving at the airport well in advance.

Accommodation

The tour includes 2 or 3 nights accommodation at the Explorer's Inn Tambopata Ecolodge, with full board included.
