Tambopata Parrot Clay Lick Tour: 6 Days

Day 1

From the Puerto Maldonado airport, we will head to the river port to board a boat to our accommodation in the Tambopata jungle. After settling in, we will visit Cocococha Lagoon to explore its surroundings, spot various bird species, including fisher birds, hoatzins, and enjoy views from a 42-meter observation tower. Dinner and rest will follow at the lodge.

Day 2

We will visit the parrot clay lick of La Cachuela at dawn, then return to the lodge for breakfast. At around 10:30 am, we will embark on a hiking route around the ecolodge, observing native birds such as tinamous, trogons, and trumpet birds. In the afternoon, we'll search for exotic birds along the Tambopata River before returning to the lodge for dinner and rest.

Day 3

After breakfast, we will head to another lodge in Tambopata. The morning is free for settling in or guided activities. In the afternoon, we will hike for about two hours in the La Torre area. Dinner and a night search for nocturnal birds will conclude the day.

Day 4

We will leave early by boat to El Chuncho, a large clay lick in Tambopata. After a four-hour crossing, we will spend the day observing native birds before dinner.

Day 5

At 5 am, we will visit a macaw clay lick in El Chuncho to marvel at these exotic birds. Afterward, we will return to the lodge for lunch, with the afternoon free.

Day 6

After breakfast, we will take you to the Puerto Maldonado airport with ample time for your flight.

Accommodation & Meals

This tour includes 5 nights of accommodation in an ecolodge in Tambopata with full board consisting of all breakfasts, lunches, and dinners.
