Tambopata Parrot Clay Lick Tour: 6 Days

Day 1

From the Puerto Maldonado airport, we'll travel to the river port to board a boat to our accommodation in the Tambopata jungle. After settling in, we'll explore Cocococha Lagoon for bird watching, including species like hoatzins, and visit a 42-meter observation tower for spotting monkeys and toucans. We conclude the day with dinner at the lodge.

Day 2

At dawn, we'll visit the parrot clay lick of La Cachuela and return for breakfast. Around 10:30 am, a hiking route will allow us to observe native birds such as tinamous and trogons. After lunch, we'll search for exotic birds along the Tambopata River and return at night to spot nocturnal species like owls.

Day 3

After breakfast, we'll transition to another lodge in Tambopata. The morning is free for relaxation or guided activities. In the afternoon, we hike for about two hours in the La Torre area to observe forest birds. Dinner will be followed by a nocturnal birdwatching session.

Day 4

Early morning, we depart by boat to El Chuncho, one of the largest colpas in Tambopata, which takes about four hours. We will camp there to observe native birds throughout the day.

Day 5

We rise at 5 am to visit a macaw clay lick in El Chuncho for birdwatching. Afterward, we return for lunch, and you will have the afternoon free.

Day 6

Post-breakfast, we will take you back to the Puerto Maldonado airport in time for your departure.

This tour includes 5 nights of accommodation in an ecolodge in Tambopata, with full board meal service (breakfasts, lunches, and dinners included).
