Tambopata Parrot Clay Lick Tour: 6 Days

Day 1

From the Puerto Maldonado airport, we will travel to the river port to board a boat to our accommodation in the Tambopata jungle. In the afternoon, we will visit Cocococha Lagoon to explore its environment and spot various bird species, including exotic hoatzins, and ascend a 42-meter high observation tower for views of monkeys and toucans. The day will end with dinner and rest at the lodge.

Day 2

We will begin the day with a visit to the parrot clay lick of La Cachuela before breakfast. At 10:30 am, a hiking route will allow us to observe native birds such as tinamous, trogons, and trumpet birds. After lunch, we will search for species along the Tambopata River and have the chance to see nocturnal birds like owls and hawks. We will return to the lodge for dinner and rest.

Day 3

After breakfast, we will head to another lodge in Tambopata. Following a morning at leisure, we will hike for about two hours in the La Torre area to observe birds in the forest. Dinner will be at 7:30 pm, followed by an outing to look for nocturnal birds.

Day 4

Early in the morning, we will travel by boat to El Chuncho, one of the largest colpas in Tambopata. The crossing will take about four hours; we will spend the day observing native birds before dinner.

Day 5

At 5 am, we will visit a macaw clay lick in El Chuncho and enjoy the vibrant colors of the birds. After photographing the macaws, we will return to the lodge for lunch and have the afternoon free.

Day 6

After breakfast, we will take you back to the Puerto Maldonado airport with ample time for your flight.

This tour includes 5 nights of accommodation in an ecolodge in Tambopata, with full board included.
