Tambopata Tour Package: 7 Days

Day 1

After picking you up from the Puerto Maldonado airport, we will go to the river port for a canoe ride along the Tambopata and Madre de Dios rivers. Enjoy a picnic on board while discovering local fauna in the Tambopata Nature Reserve. The day concludes at our accommodation in Tambopata for the next 6 nights, followed by an evening walk to find nocturnal animals.

Day 2

After an early breakfast, we will sail to the Tambopata clay lick to observe a variety of exotic birds, especially parrots and macaws. Lunch will be back at the hotel before a short 20-minute walk to Laguna Chica to see toucans. Dinner and rest will follow.

Day 3

Following breakfast, we will explore the Tambopata trail forests on a 6-kilometre (3 miles) trek. We will see native birds including the semi-collared Bolio and the white-winged tanager, stopping for a picnic along the way. Return to the hotel by 4 pm with the rest of the day free.

Day 4

Following breakfast, we will climb to the highest birding tower in the Amazon at 46 metres (150 feet) for panoramic views of the reserve. After lunch, we will walk to Laguna Chica to observe peacocks and yellow woodpeckers, concluding with dinner at the lodge.

Day 5

After an early breakfast, we will trek 5 kilometres (3 miles) to Lake Cocococha, arriving at dawn to see low-flying birds. Post-picnic, we will return to the hotel by 4 pm. After dinner, optional night canoe trip to search for Tambopata alligators is available.

Day 6

This day is dedicated to exploring other areas of the trail for more opportunities to see exotic birds of Tambopata.

Day 7

After breakfast, we will transfer you to the Puerto Maldonado airport, allowing ample time for your flight.

Accommodation

This tour includes 6 nights accommodation at the Explorer's Inn Tambopata Ecolodge, full board with all meals included.
