Taranto is one of the largest cities in Puglia and boasts a great historical and cultural heritage. Come discover it on this private tour with an exclusive guide just for you and your group!

Taranto Private Tour

At the selected time, your guide will be waiting for you in Piazza Castello, where most of the main monuments of Taranto are located. Nicknamed the City of Two Seas, Taranto straddles the Mar Piccolo and Mar Grande. The tour begins with the Doric columns of the Temple of Poseidon, dating back to the 6th century BC and considered the oldest temple in Magna Graecia.

The tour will continue to the Castello Aragonese, or Castel Sant'Angelo, a fortress from the Byzantine era that houses the Navy. Nearby, you will cross the famous swing bridge of Taranto, connecting the island of Borgo Antico with the peninsula of Borgo Nuovo. Inaugurated in 1887, it overlooks the navigable canal between the Mar Grande and Mar Piccolo.

Next, visit the Cathedral of San Cataldo, built in the second half of the 10th century by the Byzantines. Observe its Baroque façade from the 1700s and enter to admire the mosaic floor and the Chapel of San Cataldo.

After two hours of exploring the city's monumental heritage, the private tour of Taranto will conclude.
