Lamas Day Trip
At the scheduled time, we will pick you up from your hotel in Tarapoto and set off to Lamas in our minibus; the journey will take around 30 minutes.
Upon arrival, we will visit the Plaza de Armas and discuss the history of the town, which faced two conquests by settlers fleeing from the Incas. We will learn more about the Indigenous communities and their festivals during our visit to the Chanka Museum, where we will spend approximately 30 minutes.
Next, we will explore Lamas Castle, one of the town's iconic attractions. We will examine its halls and towers, which provide panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Despite its medieval appearance, the fortress was built relatively recently.
We will continue to the Wayku community of Lamas to observe their unique windowless houses and discuss their architecture.
Our day trip will conclude as we return to Tarapoto three hours after departure.
