Lamas Day Trip
We will pick you up from your hotel in Tarapoto at the scheduled time and set off to Lamas in our minibus, with a journey duration of around 30 minutes.
Upon arrival in Lamas, we'll visit the Plaza de Armas and discuss the town's history, including being conquered twice and the story of its first settlers who fled from the Incas. Our visit to the Chanka Museum will provide insight into the Indigenous communities and their festivals, followed by a 30-minute tour of the museum.
Next, we'll explore Lamas Castle, an iconic attraction featuring halls and towers with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Despite its medieval style, we will discuss how this fortress was constructed recently, illustrating the town's contrasts.
We will also visit the Wayku community of Lamas to see unique windowless houses and discuss their significance.
The day trip will conclude as we return to Tarapoto three hours after departure.
