Lamas Day Trip
At the scheduled time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Tarapoto and set off to Lamas in our minibus. The journey will take around 30 minutes.
Upon arrival, we will visit the Plaza de Armas and discuss the fascinating history of the town, including its conquest and the experiences of its Indigenous communities. This includes a visit to the Chanka Museum, where we will learn about local festivals.
After a 30-minute museum tour, we will walk to Lamas Castle, exploring its halls and towers which offer panoramic views of the mountains. This medieval-style fortress provides insight into Lamas' unique architectural contrasts; it was built fairly recently.
Next, we will visit the Wayku community of Lamas to observe their distinctive windowless homes and engage in discussions about their architectural choices.
Our day trip concludes with our return to Tarapoto, approximately three hours after departure.
