Santa Elena & Caves of Palestine Day Trip

Join us on an incredible adventure to the Santa Elena Reserve on our day trip from Tarapoto. We'll also take a canoe ride through the wetlands of the Alto Mayo and visit the Caves of Palestine.

Santa Elena & Caves of Palestine Day Trip

We will pick you up from your hotel in Tarapoto early in the morning and board our minibus for a day trip to the Santa Elena Reserve.

After a 2-hour 30-minute drive, we will arrive in the town of Rioja for a typical breakfast with an infusion or coffee.

Next, we will go to the Alto Mayo wetlands where canoes will be ready. We will spend 2 hours rowing down the Romero River, observing wildlife such as monkeys, sloths, otters, and reptiles.

After canoeing, we will travel to Nueva Cajamarca to visit the Caves of Palestine. Here, we will walk through underground paths and learn about the unique formations from our guide.

Following our cave exploration, we will enjoy a meal at a local restaurant, including a main course and a drink.

Finally, we will return to your hotel in Tarapoto, concluding our day trip after approximately 12 hours.
