Tarija City Tour
At the arranged time, we will pick you up from your hotel to commence a tour through Tarijá's notable sites and its ancient civilization.
Our journey begins at Luis de Fuentes square, where we will provide an overview of 16th century Tarija, established as a defense point against the chiriguano indigenous people by captain Luis de Fuentes and Vargas. The origins of Tarija date back to the pre-Incan era, when it was inhabited by tribes such as the Moyos Moyos, JuJuyes, and Juríes.
Next, we’ll proceed to the Cathedral of San Bernado, founded by Jesuits.
Following this, we’ll visit the Casa Dorada, an emblematic art nouveau building that houses Tarija's Casa de la Cultura. Shortly thereafter, we will reach the church of San Francisco, founded in 1606, which is one of the city’s oldest monuments and contains over 1500 historically significant books.
We will then explore the Paleontological Museum of Tarija, where dinosaur and mammal fossils are exhibited, including fossils of dinosaur, mammal, sloth, armadillo, and an enormous mammoth.
Before concluding the tour, we will visit the New Central Market. After 4 to 5 hours of touring, you will be returned to your hotel in Tarija.
