Tarija Stargazing Activity

At 7 pm, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Tarija. From there, we'll board a comfortable minibus and head to the National Astronomical Observatory of Santa Ana, an important Bolivian institution.

This observatory broadcasts the official time for the entire country. Within its facilities, we will find photographic laboratories, workshops, and telescopes. We will start with a tour of the observatory, learning about the instruments used to observe planets, satellites, and stars, along with their different functions. The staff will utilize laser pointers to indicate the location of each planet in the sky.

You will have the opportunity to look through the telescope and try to spot the brightest stars in the sky, including Alpha Centauri, Sirius, and Canopus. Additionally, be on the lookout for planets such as Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn.

After viewing the celestial bodies in the night sky, we will proceed to the audiovisual room to conclude our experience with a documentary on astronomy.

We will then return you to your hotel in Tarija, arriving at 10 pm.
