Join us for an extraordinary stargazing experience in Tarija, where you will explore the vastness of the night sky and familiarize yourself with various constellations and planets at the esteemed National Astronomical Observatory of Santa Ana.
Stargazing Experience in Tarija
Our adventure begins at 7 pm, with a convenient pick-up from your hotel in Tarija. A comfortable minibus will take us to the National Astronomical Observatory of Santa Ana, a significant Bolivian establishment dedicated to astronomical research.
Did you know that this observatory is responsible for broadcasting the official time throughout Bolivia? Within its premises, we’ll discover various facilities, including photographic labs and workshops, as well as a collection of advanced telescopes. To kick off our activity, a guided tour of the observatory will introduce us to the sophisticated instruments utilized for observing planets, satellites, and stars, highlighting their unique functionalities. The knowledgeable staff will use laser pointers to guide our gaze towards the locations of the planets in the night sky.
Now it's your chance! You will have the opportunity to peer through the telescope and attempt to identify some of the most luminous stars, including Alpha Centauri, Sirius, and Canopus. Be on the lookout for planets such as Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn!
After enjoying the wonders of the celestial skyline, we will proceed to the audiovisual room to conclude our evening with an engaging documentary on astronomy.
Finally, we will return you to your hotel in Tarija, arriving around 10 pm.
