Chacamarca Sanctuary, Lake Junin & Ondores Tour

During this expedition to the Chacamarca Historic Sanctuary, Lake Junín, and Ondores, participants will have the opportunity to uncover the notable sites within the Junín region and visit the quaint San Pedro de Pari.

Description



At the designated time, we will gather at the Plaza de Armas in Tarma to commence our exploration of the key attractions in Junín province.



Our journey will begin with a northward drive to the Chacamarca Historic Sanctuary. Before reaching our goal, a stop will be made at the Camino Inca viewpoint, where we can take in the view of the expansive flower fields. After approximately one hour of travel, we will arrive at our destination, where we will delve into the Battle of Junín and its crucial role in the history of Peru's independence.



Here, we'll uncover the story behind the monument dedicated to the heroes who fought bravely in battle, alongside a visit to the museum of the Chacamarca Historic Sanctuary.



Following this, we will proceed to the small town of Junín to explore its Plaza de Armas, which is home to the notable monument of General Simón Bolívar. Next, we will venture to the town of Ondores, where a guided tour will reveal its captivating attractions.



A highlight of this visit will undoubtedly be Ondores' colonial Church, renowned as a colonial gem. Its fascinating altarpieces, stone tower, and bell tower contribute to its remarkable allure. Afterward, we will continue towards Lake Junín, one of Peru's largest lakes, en route to San Pedro de Pari.



At this picturesque location, we will explore the colonial Church of Pari, beautifully set by the lakeside, offering stunning vistas. Participants will gain insights into its architectural design and intricate details. The tour will also include visits to additional sites in San Pedro de Pari, such as the Cabeza del Inca, La Momia, San Jerónimo, and the Tres Reyes Magos.



To conclude our day, we will make our way back to Tarma, wrapping up the tour after approximately seven hours.
