Embark on a journey to explore one of the key cities in Peru with this tour to Huánuco, which includes a visit to the remarkable archaeological site of Kotosh.

Description

At the scheduled time, our meeting point will be the Plaza de Armas in Tarma, where we'll commence our adventure to Huánuco and Kotosh. Trust that getting an early start will be a fulfilling choice!

We will first travel northward towards Huánuco, renowned as the city of eternal Spring. After roughly five hours on the road, we will reach our destination and take a break in a café to enjoy breakfast at a relaxed pace.

Once we've reenergized, a guided exploration of Huánuco will commence, celebrated for its delightful climate. Our first stop will be the Plaza de Armas, home to the contemporary Huánuco cathedral—the sacred site of “el Señor de Burgos,” the city’s revered king and patron saint.

Next, we will pay our respects at the Daniel Alomía Robles Mausoleum, dedicated to the creator of the famous musical piece El Cóndor Pasa. After uncovering the legacy of this renowned composer, we'll stroll across the Calicanto bridge leading us to the historic San Cristóbal Church and the San Francisco Church.

Having admired the main highlights of Huánuco, our journey continues to the archaeological site of Kotosh, recognized as one of the earliest temples in Peru. Here, you will explore its ancient ruins, particularly the significant Temple of Crossed Hands.

To round off our tour, we will visit Pillco Mozo, the ever-watchful guardian of Huánuco, where the legend of this hill will be shared. Ready for a meal? You will have an hour of leisure to dine at one of the local eateries.

After satisfying your hunger, we'll proceed to Casa de la Perricholi, the residence of a prominent local actress admired by Viceroy Manuel Amat for her wit and charm. The story is sure to captivate you! As we move towards the end of our tour, we’ll make a stop at Hacienda Cachigaga to explore the production of local sugar cane beverages.

Here, we will sample these traditional drinks while learning further about them at Casa Hacienda de Andabamba and Casa de los Artesanos.

In conclusion, after 12 hours, we will return to Tarma, cherishing the memories of the day.
