Join us to discover one of the most important cities in Peru on this tour to Huánuco, including the archaeological site of Kotosh.
Description
At the indicated time, we'll meet at the Plaza de Armas in Tarma and start our tour to Huánuco and Kotosh. The early start is worthwhile.
We will head north towards Huánuco, known as the city of eternal Spring. After approximately five hours, we will stop at a café for breakfast at your leisure.
After breakfast, we will begin a guided tour of Huánuco. We will explore the Plaza de Armas, which features the modern Huánuco cathedral, the resting place of “el Señor de Burgos,” the city's patron saint.
Next, we will visit the Daniel Alomía Robles Mausoleum, commemorating the composer of the famous musical El Cóndor Pasa. Following this, we will cross the Calicanto bridge to visit the San Cristóbal colonial Church and the San Francisco Church.
After Huánuco, we will head to the archaeological site of Kotosh, one of the oldest temples in Peru, to visit its ruins and the Temple of Crossed Hands.
We will continue to Pillco Mozo, where we will explain the legend of this hill. You'll have an hour of free time to eat at local restaurants.
Afterward, we will visit Casa de la Perricholi, the home of a local actress who charmed Viceroy Manuel Amat. Finally, we will stop at Hacienda Cachigaga to learn about drinks made from sugar cane and taste traditional products at Casa Hacienda de Andabamba and Casa de los Artesanos.
We will return to Tarma 12 hours after the start time.
