On this excursion to the Huayllay National Sanctuary, you'll traverse through one of Peru's most significant and protected nature reserves. Visit the famous stone forest!
Description
Meet us at the Plaza de Armas in Tarma to begin the day trip to the Huayllay National Sanctuary, located in the Bombon Plateau.
We will journey through the landscapes of the Bombon Plateau, encountering flower crops, the expansive Pampas of Junin, and the Historical Sanctuary of Chacamarca, honoring heroes from the Battle of Junin, crucial in Peru's independence.
After passing through Junín, Parí, or San Juan de Ondores, we will reach Chinchaycocha Lake, the second-largest lake in Peru. Here, we will stop at a viewpoint to appreciate the vistas of this pristine lake before heading to the Huayllay National Sanctuary.
A highlight is the Huayllay Stone Forest, featuring over 480 unique rock formations. We will explore this area, noting resemblances of some formations to animals or human figures.
The final stop will be the village of Carhuamayo to view the Maca Monument. We will then return to Tarma, concluding our day trip 13 hours after pickup at the meeting point.
