On this excursion to the Huayllay National Sanctuary, you'll traverse through one of Peru's most significant and protected nature reserves. Visit the famous stone forest!

Description

Meet us at the Plaza de Armas in Tarma to start our day trip to the Huayllay National Sanctuary, located in the heart of the Bombon Plateau.

Our journey includes breathtaking landscapes of the Bombon Plateau, where we will see flower crops, the vast Pampas of Junin, and the Historical Sanctuary of Chacamarca, which honors those who fought in the Battle of Junin, a key event in Peru's independence.

After passing through the towns of Junín, Parí, or San Juan de Ondores, we will arrive at Chinchaycocha Lake, the second-largest lake in Peru. Here, we will stop at a viewpoint to enjoy the views before continuing to the Huayllay National Sanctuary.

A major highlight is the Huayllay Stone Forest, featuring over 480 unique rock formations. During our visit, we will explore this area and identify formations resembling animals or human figures.

The final stop will be in the village of Carhuamayo to see the Maca Monument. We will then return to Tarma, completing our 13-hour day trip and arriving back at the meeting point.
