See two of Georgia's most beautiful and symbolic monuments with this Borjomi, Vardzia & Rabati Castle Day Trip. You'll visit the monastery caves, and wander through the charming town.
Day Trip Details
We'll meet on Kote Abkhazi Street in Tbilisi at the designated time and board the bus to head west to the Vardzia Monastery. The journey will take approximately 3 hours.
Located in the town of Ajaltsije, this site features a cultural mix of a church, a mosque, and a synagogue within its seven hectares.
After an hour's visit, we'll return to the bus and go to Vardzia. Upon arrival, you will explore the many caves that comprise this place of worship, notable for its defensive structure due to its proximity to Turkey. The tour will last an hour and a half, where we will uncover its secrets and admire the frescoes in its church.
A lunch stop will occur in a small village along the way.
Next, we will reach the Borjomi Nature Reserve, where you can learn about its precious spring waters and taste them. The tour includes a stroll through the town and viewing the Romanovs summer palace.
The tour will conclude back in Tbilisi at approximately 10 pm.
Itinerary Adjustments
Until March 2025, Rabati Castle cannot be visited due to a lighting issue. During this period, additional time will be allocated to exploring Borjomi and Vardzia.
Additional Info
For visits to places of worship, women must cover their hair, so a scarf or shawl is recommended. An average level of physical fitness is also needed to visit Vardzia due to the challenging route.
