Description

Meet at the Fray Junipero Serra hotel in Tepic at the scheduled time and set off towards the Aguamilpa hydroelectric dam, located along the Grande de Santiago riverbed.

The journey into the Huichol or Wixarika culture begins here, representing a civilization that preserves its ancient indigenous traditions. The Huichol people express their distinct worldview in their attire, traditions, cuisine, and handicrafts.

From the Aguamilpa dam, proceed by boat to Anaki, a sacred site for the Huichol community. Indigenous members will guide us through the ceremonial center and the Calli-Huey temple. During this visit, we will participate in the Marakame ritual and a traditional Huichol dance.
