Day Trip to Vergina & Veria
We'll meet next to the Statue of Venizelos and embark on this excursion to Vergina and Veria. We will leave Thessaloniki behind to discover two cities brimming with history and culture.
First, we will visit Veria, known for its religious history. Here, you will enjoy 1 hour of free time to explore the Byzantine and post-Byzantine churches and stroll through the old quarters of the city.
Next, we will head to Vergina, the first capital of the ancient Macedonian Kingdom. Upon arrival, we will visit the New Museum of Aigai, which showcases artefacts from the ancient city of Egas.
Our next stop will be the Museum of the Royal Tombs, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This includes an exploration of standout funerary monuments, such as the royal tomb of Philip II, father of Alexander the Great, along with treasures from the 4th century BC beneath the burial mound.
After exploring the tomb, you will have free time to grab a bite to eat.
Finally, we will return to the meeting point in Thessaloniki, arriving 7 hours later.
