Greek History: A Tour of Ancient Macedonia

Meet us in Salonica at your chosen meeting point to begin our day trip through Ancient Macedonia and visit various archaeological sites in Greece.

Our first stop is the Pella archeological site, the birthplace of Alexander the Great. Tour the 2,500 square meters (26,909 square feet) of archaeological grounds and view the symposium halls and mosaic floors from the 4th century, depicting scenes of gods and heroes. Learn about the historic capital of Macedonia with our knowledgeable guide.

Next, we travel to Edessa, meaning "tower in the water" in Greek. Here, see the Karano waterfall, the tallest in Greece at 70 meters (229 feet), and enjoy a moment of natural beauty. We will walk along the riverbanks and through natural parks.

You'll have 1.5 hours of free time for lunch at local restaurants. Afterward, we proceed to Naousa to explore its wine tourism traditions.

At a winery, we’ll learn about the xinomavro wine-making process and enjoy a wine tasting with aperitifs, concluding a full day. We will return to Salonica approximately 9.5 hours later.
