Meteora Tour by Train

Your train will depart from Thessaloniki Station towards Kalambaka. Upon arrival at Kalambaka Station, our English-speaking driver will be waiting to take you to the Meteora Monasteries, located 20 minutes away. During the drive, the driver will explain the origin and history of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Upon reaching the Meteora Mountains, you will have four hours to visit the monasteries: Great Meteoron, St. Nikolaos, Holy Trinity, St. Stephen, Varlaam, and Roussanou. Each monastery features unique attributes and artworks. You will admire the exterior of all and visit the interior of one or two monasteries.

After the visit, our driver will return you to Kalambaka train station, where you can rest until your return train departs. Finally, you'll arrive back at Thessaloniki Station after a day of exploring beautiful landscapes.

Visiting the monasteries

Be aware that some monasteries are closed to the public, except on Saturdays and Sundays when they are open. The Great Meteor Monastery is closed on Tuesdays.
