Visit the hometown of Alexander the Great with this trip to Pella and Vergina. You will discover the importance of Macedonia's past by exploring its archaeological sites.

Description

At the indicated time, we'll meet next to the sculpture of Eleftherios Venizelos in Egnatia Street. There, we'll board a minibus and leave Thessaloniki to start this excursion to Pella and Vergina.

After a 45-minute drive, we'll reach Pella, the hometown of Alexander the Great. This site was the capital of Macedonia between the 5th and 4th centuries BC. We will explore its archaeological site and learn about notable figures like Aristotle, Euripides, Philip II, and Alexander the Great.

We will visit the site's museum to see various finds, including everyday objects and remarkable mosaic floors from the "house of Dionysus" and the "house of Helena".

Next, we will travel to Vergina and stop in front of the Museum of the Royal Tombs of Aigai, where you can find the tomb of King Philip II of Macedon.

After exploring this World Heritage Site, we'll go to a local restaurant to enjoy a Greek lunch at your own expense. Finally, we'll return to Salonica.

After 13 hours of excursion, we'll end the activity back at the starting point.
