Cultural Villages Sightseeing will bring you to different and new destinations, with an authentic and genuine experience, offering you contact with the real “santorinians” and participating in our culture.
The village of Pyrgos is known as the island’s “historic monument”. Built on the top of a hill, this settlement holds an 18th-century Venetian castle.
Megalochori is one of the most beautiful traditional villages on the island. This local settlement holds typical and classical Cycladic houses, and neoclassic buildings dug in the volcanic rock, blending together with harmony.
Discover Emporio, the entry to another past era and the island commercial center during the Venetian occupation. In Medieval times, the inhabitants of this village used to build the side of their house, in small picturesque streets, so that they could protect themselves against the pirates.
Visit the Akrotiri Archaeological Site and go back into time to marvel at the secrets and wonders of this lost ancient city. This 4000-year-old Bronze age settlement prospered for centuries before being eradicated by a great volcanic eruption. Eventually, it was buried in Volcanic Ash, which helped to protect the artifacts from being destroyed. Walk along the ancient walls and take a glimpse of a Minoan town with 3-story buildings, well-preserved frescoes, an elaborate drainage system and more.
